The turkey and mashed potatoes have been cleared away and many of us have shifted our focus to snagging the best holiday sales. Although the way you go about shopping may look much different this year, many of us will still be scouting out those deals to share with our loved ones under the tree.
During this annual season of giving, we wanted to share with our readers five retailers that you can feel extra GOOD about shopping from. These companies have great CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) policies, which essentially means that they go above and beyond to be GOOD employers and GOOD stewards of those across the globe. Below we’ve highlighted five for this week’s The GOOD List that we think are extra worthy of a little holiday love.
Greyston Bakery
Yeah, you may feel a little guilty indulging on these sinful brownies, but you’ll get a reprieve knowing what a GOOD company you’re supporting. This registered B Corp hires people, regardless of their past or present circumstances, no questions asked. Instead, they let them prove themselves on the job. Additionally, they provide a range of resources, including child care, community gardens, workforce development, and sustainability programs. With flavors like Chocolate Fudge Brownie and Brown Sugar Blondie, they aren’t just life-changing they really are world-changing.

Allbirds
When shopping at Allbirds, customers now have the option to add an additional pair of shoes (or more!) to be donated to a healthcare worker at half price. As we know, these frontline healthcare heroes work long, hard hours on their feet to help keep all of us safe, and this small gesture of comfort can make a big difference. The company has also added options for customers to donate a pair of shoes without purchasing one for themselves, and for healthcare workers to access shoes for themselves directly at the discounted price. Of the people we can be going the extra mile for right now, our healthcare workers seem to be top of the list.

Subaru
For the past 12 years, Subaru has been giving back through their popular Share the Love campaign. Anyone who purchases a new vehicle through January 4th will get to choose one of four charities to receive a $250 donation in their name. Additionally, Subaru offers 0% financing on your new ride. So if you’re wondering who are those people who give cars for holiday gifts, the answer can be YOU. Better get that big red bow ready.

Hand in Hand
Because five million children die each year who lack access to clean water, and hand-hygiene education, Hand in Hand soap decided to create an environmentally responsible brand of soap that could help cut that number in half. For every bar sold, a bar will be donated to their partners in either Cambodia or Haiti. They also provide funds to help build and repair wells, so that children in these communities always have access to clean water. Since they started in 2011 they’ve donated over 3 million bars of soap. We’re not sure there could be a better time to help support a company that’s improving hand-hygiene throughout the world.

The Giving Keys
We read about a lot of companies out there focused on being good stewards of their communities. But seldom compare to what’s happening at The Giving Keys Company. They are a pay it forward company, selling hand-stamped products with inspirational words like Believe, Joy, Kindness, or a personalized word. You’re encouraged to embrace your word, then pass it on, “paying it forward” to someone you feel needs the message more than you. Once you’ve passed your word on, you’re encouraged to go to their website and share your story, which they then post for others to gain strength and inspiration. Sniff sniff… We’re not crying, you’re crying. Or at least you will be when you check out all the GOOD happening at this L.A. based brand.
